Non-slip concrete resurfacing around public swimming pools.
Concrete overlays can restore surfaces to a wide range of beautiful decorative finishes. The textured surface can deliver non-slip government rating up to R13. High R rating will provided ample of grip for wet areas.
Polymer modified acrylic concrete’s eliminate delaminating by mechanically adhering to the existing surface with a permanent bond.
This Little Fins Swim School Centre was using topical paints with sand additives to provide traction around their swimming pool. With high foot traffic all day and pool chemicals the anti-slip paints were not lasting. The sand would wear off in a week and they were left with a slippery painted surface.
After grinding off all the existing paint and etching the substrate a desert beige integral coloured concrete overlay was applied. The above picture shows the end result of the 4mm thick coloured concrete overlay with a CSS emulsion resin sealer. This high quality concrete sealer will provide years of protection and make their weekly maintenance concrete cleaning easy. This job was all turn over in 5 days during the Christmas shutdown so there was no loss in income for the swim school.
The second photo is the entry to a Japanese restaurant in Pitt St Mall, Sydney. They wanted a slopping wheel chair ramp with a nonslip textured finish to match the brick walls.
For places with a very high foot traffic environment, that want a slip resistance floor, I would always recommend a concrete overlay before a sealer with an aggregate added to it. The longevity of a concrete will always be better.
