Porous synthetic or natural stones tiles will need to be sealed to prevent permanent staining. From the time they are laid, tiles can be exposed to efflorescence, salt attack, spills, weather, animals, children and tradesmen.
It is best to seal them sooner rather than later. Fusion Restoration recommends floor tile sealing and sealing tile and grout for protection from the above things. Sealing tiles will work by making what was once a porous surface that would attract and draw in stains, to now a treated surface that will repeal these penetrates. In return your job of hosing, moping or sweeping will now be effective and a lot easier. An advanced tile cleaning service must be done before any sealer is applied.
Polished porcelain and R rated non-slip tiles can be difficult to keep clean.
Polished porcelain loves to attracted smear marks and water stains while non-slip tiles are terrible to mop.
Fusion Restoration has a very specific sealer for sealing ceramic and porcelain tiles.
A high solvent sealer with nano technology will penetrate dense surfaces for a permanent seal. Our skill employees will take care to remove any unwanted sealer residue from the surface before it hardens. Unwanted sealer on the surface will give a smudgy appearance and leave foot prints when walked on. Excess sealer residue needs to be dealt with during application.
Sealing Natural Stone Tiles
All natural stones are acid sensitive. For example: Red wines, fruit juices, vinegars, cokes and alot of cleaning products can etch into your stone giving a patchy, dull or smokey look. This can only be corrected by grinding or polishing. The right sealers will protect from acid etching.
Stone tiles are very porous. Staining can suck deep into the tile and be almost impossible to remove.
Penetrating sealers offer both organic and oil stain protection for stone tiles.
Seal your expensive delicate floor sooner rather than later.
Sealing Concrete Pavers
Concrete Pavers look awesome when they are new. Unprotected, pavers can fade from UV damage, discolour quickly from staining and be penetrated by foreign matter.
Moisture absorbing below the surface of a paver and freezing at night will deteriorate a paver quickly and reduce its life.
Concrete pavers can be sealed by both penetrating sealers and film sealers.
We have many sealer options for pavers. Wet look gloss or matt sealers have the option of being tinted to recolour your pavers. Natural look sealers protect the pavers leaving them in their natural state.
Penetrating sealers work by sinking into the tile and protect it from within. They deposit either a natural or synthetic resin into the pores of the tile below the surface. After the sealer is applied the water or solvent evaporates and leaves the resin in the stone. It then hardens and chemically bonds with the tile to form an invisible protecting barrier that prevents the surface from absorbing unwanted matter. The major benefit to penetrating sealers is that they let tile breathe. This eliminates sealer delamination.
Film Forming or Topical Sealers
Topical sealers form a film on the top of the surface and provide a coating that protects it from damage. The purpose of the sealer is to form a barrier the substrate from absorbing foreign materials. Stains and materials will not sink in but will instead remain on the surface until they can be wiped away. Colours can be added to these sealers along with hardeners and non-slip grits if needed.
Matt, satin or high gloss sealers are optional choices. Garage, office and factory concrete floors really benefit from colour coating and epoxy sealing.
